This wild boar driven hunt offers hunters the opportunity to experience a high-intensity, traditional European battue in Turkey’s renowned Black Sea region. Conducted across large, exclusive concessions with extremely high boar densities, this hunt is designed for groups looking for fast-paced action and the opportunity to harvest multiple mature boars in a single outing.
The Wild Boar Hunting Area / Terrain
The hunt takes place across the Black Sea Region of Turkey, including areas around Tokat, Sinop, Samsun, Çorum, and Kastamonu. This region is well known for its dense habitat and strong wild boar populations.
The terrain consists of rugged hills, deep valleys, and dense deciduous forests that provide ideal cover for large groups of boars. This type of environment allows for classic driven hunting, where animals move naturally through thick cover.
The hunting concession spans over 800,000 hectares and is exclusively managed by this outfitter, ensuring a true free-range hunting experience with minimal pressure.
About the Wild Boar
Wild boar in this region are known for both their size and numbers. Mature males, referred to as “keilers,” are typically solitary outside of driven scenarios but may be encountered in groups during drives.
Trophy boars commonly weigh between 200 and 300 kg, with tusk lengths ranging from 20 cm to over 30 cm. The high population density in this region provides frequent opportunities and consistent action throughout the hunt.
The Wild Boar Hunting Experience
This hunt is conducted as a traditional driven hunt, also known as a battue. Each day typically consists of 3 to 4 organized drives, where teams of experienced beaters and trained scent hounds move through dense cover to push wild boar toward the line of hunters.
Hunters are positioned along known travel routes and shooting lanes, where they wait for boars to break cover. This style of hunting is fast-paced and requires quick target acquisition and accurate shooting, often with multiple animals moving at once.
Between drives, hunters regroup and reposition for the next push. Midday breaks often include a traditional meal served in the field before continuing the hunt in the afternoon. This format provides continuous action and a highly social hunting environment.
The Wild Boar Outfitter
This outfitter has been conducting professional hunts in Turkey for over 20 years and specializes in large-scale driven hunts in the Black Sea region. They operate across extensive, exclusive concessions and have built a strong reputation for delivering well-organized and highly successful group hunts.
Their team includes experienced guides, beaters, and dog handlers who work together to coordinate each drive efficiently. Their deep understanding of the terrain and animal movement allows them to consistently produce high-volume, action-packed hunts.
Travel for the Wild Boar Hunt
You will arrive at one of the following airports, depending on your hunting area: Samsun (SZF), Sinop (NOP), or Ankara (ESB).
Upon arrival, you will be met by the outfitter and transferred by road to your hotel or lodge. Travel times typically range from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the location.
All ground transportation during the hunt is included, and no charter flights are required.
The Wild Boar Hunting Accommodations
You will stay in comfortable 3–4 star hotels or private hunting lodges located near the hunting areas. Rooms feature en-suite bathrooms, permanent heating, reliable electricity, and internet access.
These accommodations are selected to provide both comfort and convenience, with close proximity to the hunting grounds to minimize travel time each day. Common areas offer a relaxed setting to gather, review the day’s hunt, and plan for the next outing. Meals are prepared daily and typically include a mix of local and traditional dishes, with breakfast before the hunt and dinner served after returning in the evening.
The Wild Boar Hunting Season
The wild boar driven hunt season runs from September 1 through February 28. The best time to hunt is from November through January, when colder weather and snow conditions create ideal driven hunting scenarios.
Recommended Firearms and Shooting Distances
Recommended firearms include semi-automatic or straight-pull rifles that allow for quick follow-up shots. Common calibers include .30-06, .300 Win Mag, and 9.3×62. Shotguns with slugs are also effective in dense cover.
Shot distances are typically short to moderate due to the nature of driven hunting, and quick, accurate shooting is essential.
This outfitter does not offer rental rifles, so hunters must bring their own firearms. All necessary import paperwork will be handled by the outfitter.
Packing List
A detailed packing list will be provided to the client after the hunt is booked.
