This is a premium free-range red stag and blackbuck hunt in Argentina's La Pampa region, offering hunters the opportunity to pursue a free-range red stag up to 350" along with a free-range blackbuck. The hunt takes place on a vast private ranch near Santa Rosa, where thousands of red stags and blackbuck roam across more than 85,000 acres of natural habitat. With six full hunting days and 5-star accommodations, this is an excellent opportunity for hunters looking for quality free-range trophies combined with exceptional food and hospitality.
The red stag and blackbuck are hunted on the free-range portion of the ranch, using traditional spot-and-stalk methods. The expansive property gives hunters plenty of room to move throughout the hunt while the PH uses local knowledge, glassing, and animal movement to locate mature trophies. The red stag hunt can be especially exciting during the rut, while blackbuck provide a challenging plains-game hunt in the open La Pampa terrain.
The Free-Range Red Stag & Blackbuck Hunting Area
The hunting area is located in Argentina's La Pampa Region, with the nearest town being Santa Rosa. The ranch encompasses approximately 85,000 acres of free-ranging land, providing a tremendous amount of country for hunting. The terrain is generally flat, with bushes, open grassland, and dunes rather than large hills or mountainous terrain.
The La Pampa region is well known for its cattle ranches and quality big game hunting. The rotational grazing system used on the ranch produces excellent grass and attracts large numbers of wildlife. At any given time, the property is estimated to be home to 2,000 red stags and 3,000+ blackbuck, along with water buffalo, boar, and other free-ranging species.
The combination of open country, brush, dunes, and extensive ranchland creates excellent habitat for both species. The large size of the property also allows the animals to move naturally, making each hunt dependent on current animal movements, weather, and the skill and local knowledge of your hunting team.
Hunting Red Stag & Blackbuck in La Pampa
A typical hunting day begins with a fresh breakfast before heading into the hunting area with your guide. A vehicle will take you to the day's hunting area, after which the hunt generally proceeds on foot using traditional spot-and-stalk methods. The morning hours are spent glassing open country, bush lines, feeding areas, and other locations where animals are likely to be found.
Red stags can provide an especially exciting hunt during the rut, when mature bulls become more vocal and visible as they compete for and gather harems. The PH will use glassing and the terrain to locate a suitable stag before planning a careful approach. The goal is to find a mature free-range bull rather than simply taking the first opportunity encountered.
Blackbuck offer a very different hunting experience. They are generally found in open plains and sparsely wooded areas, where their excellent eyesight and speed can make closing the distance challenging. Careful use of terrain, vegetation, wind, and natural cover is important when stalking a mature blackbuck.
The safari provides six full hunting days, allowing hunters time to pursue both species according to current conditions. After the morning hunt, hunters return to the lodge for lunch and a break before heading back into the field for the afternoon hunt. Evenings are spent enjoying dinner, local wines, and the hospitality of the lodge while preparing for the following day's hunt.
About the Red Stag & Blackbuck
Red stags are one of Argentina's most sought-after introduced game species, and La Pampa is considered one of the country's premier red stag hunting regions. Mature bulls are known for their impressive antlers, and this hunt offers the opportunity to pursue a free-range stag up to 350". The rut provides an especially exciting experience, as mature bulls become more active and vocal while competing for females.
Blackbuck are a striking antelope species originally native to the Indian subcontinent and now well established in Argentina. Mature males are recognized by their distinctive spiral horns and contrasting dark-and-white coloration. On this free-range hunt, no size limit applies, allowing hunters to pursue the biggest blackbuck they can find.
The 5-Star Red Stag and Blackbuck Hunting Lodge
The 5-star lodge is designed in a minimalist style and features five spacious and peaceful bedroom suites. The rooms are styled with rustic simplicity to create a comfortable connection with the surrounding environment.
The five spacious rooms feature either a king bed or twin beds, walk-in rain showers, central heating, and security safes.
The chef creates an exceptional dining experience using seasonal products from local producers. Meals are designed around the flavors and traditions of Argentina, with premium beverages available throughout your stay.
Additional Hunting Opportunities
Once you have taken your red stag and blackbuck, there are numerous additional species available on this property. At any time, the ranch is home to an estimated 2,000 red stags, 3,000+ blackbuck, 1,000 boars, and 600 water buffalo, along with other free-ranging game.
Additional species may be hunted according to the current trophy fee price list and availability.
Bow Hunting
The outfitter also offers spot-and-stalk bow hunting for most species. Success on estate red stag runs high, but getting close with a bow is challenging and requires good accuracy. If you have not gotten a stag or blackbuck within 4 days, you will have the option of switching to a rifle.
Getting to La Pampa
Hunters will fly into Buenos Aires, Argentina. Depending on your arrival time, an overnight stay in Buenos Aires may be necessary. From Buenos Aires, hunters will transfer from the international airport to the domestic airport before taking a commercial flight to Santa Rosa.
Upon arrival in Santa Rosa, the outfitter will meet you and provide transportation to the hunting lodge. Round-trip transportation from Santa Rosa is $300 for this hunt.
Trophy Handling and Care
Trophies are skinned, salted, and prepared for transportation to the expediter. Once properly prepared, they are placed into a packing crate for transportation. The typical timeframe for this process is approximately 1–2 months.
The Hunting Season
This hunt is available from March through August. The high season is from March through April and is $9,000, while the off-season runs from May through August and is $8,700. The off-season takes place in the deeper winter and offers colder conditions.
Recommended Firearms and Rental Rifles
A reliable flat-shooting rifle in a suitable caliber for both red stag and blackbuck is recommended. The outfitter has more than 15 rental rifles available, including .308, .223, .300, and .30-06 options.
If bringing your own rifle, hunters should bring a platform they are comfortable shooting accurately in varying field conditions. Premium hunting ammunition is required.
Deposit Policy
A deposit of 50% is required to book and reserve hunting dates. The balance of the package is due 30 days before the start of the hunt. The outfitter accepts bank wires, personal checks, and cash. Credit cards are not accepted.
Cancellation Policy
Deposits are non-refundable. Hunts may be rescheduled one time with notice given at least 30 days before the hunt. A $150 rescheduling fee is payable directly to the booking agent before new dates are set. Cancellations or no-shows less than 30 days before the hunt will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
EXCLUSIONS: Airfare, round-trip transportation from Santa Rosa, before and after hunt accommodations in Buenos Aires, inter-airport transportation, hunting license, trophy tags, rifle rental, ammunition, observers, additional hunting days, taxidermy, trophy shipping, and gratuities.
