The Wild Boar Hunting Area / Terrain

The hunt takes place across the Black Sea Region of Turkey, including areas around Tokat, Sinop, Samsun, Çorum, and Kastamonu. This region is known for its rich habitat and excellent wild boar genetics.

The terrain is a diverse mix of steep hills, deep valleys, dense forests, and agricultural land. Approximately 40% of the area is forest, 40% consists of bush and open terrain, and 20% is farmland. This combination creates prime conditions for supporting large populations of wild boar.

The hunting concession spans over 800,000 hectares and is exclusively managed by this outfitter, ensuring a true free-range hunting experience with minimal pressure.

 

About the Wild Boar

Wild boar in this region are known for their impressive size and tusk development. Mature males, referred to as “keilers,” are typically solitary and highly cautious.

Trophy boars here commonly weigh between 200 and 300 kg, with tusk lengths ranging from 20 cm to over 30 cm. These animals are primarily nocturnal and require patience and proper positioning to successfully hunt.

The Wild Boar Hunting Experience

This hunt is conducted using a combination of high-seat hunting and spot-and-stalk methods, depending on the conditions and hunter preference. Most hunting takes place in the late afternoon, evening, and into the night when wild boar are most active.

Hunters will often begin in strategically placed high seats overlooking feeding areas, travel corridors, and agricultural edges where boar are known to move. When conditions allow, stalking may also be used, moving quietly through forest edges and open terrain while watching for movement and fresh sign.

Moon phase plays an important role, with the best conditions typically occurring between 30% and 60% illumination. Shots are generally taken from stable positions at moderate distances, and careful shot placement is emphasized due to the toughness of mature boars.

Additional boars can be harvested at €1,500 per boar. This hunt specifically targets trophy boars. A missed shot or wounded animal causes the guide to have to redo the entire high seat setup for another opportunity to harvest a trophy pig. Because of this, there is a missed shot fee of €200 if no blood is drawn, and a wounded animal fee of €600 if blood was drawn but no trophy was recovered.

Travel for the Wild Boar Hunt 

You will arrive at one of the following airports, depending on your hunting area: Samsun (SZF), Sinop (NOP), or Ankara (ESB).

Upon arrival, you will be met by the outfitter and transferred by road to your hotel or lodge. Travel times typically range from 2 to 4 hours.

All ground transportation during the hunt is included, and no charter flights are required.

 

The Wild Boar Hunting Accommodations

You will stay in comfortable 3–4 star hotels or private hunting lodges located near the hunting areas. Rooms feature en-suite bathrooms, permanent heating, reliable electricity, and internet access.

These accommodations are selected to provide both comfort and convenience, with close proximity to the hunting grounds to minimize travel time each day. Common areas offer a relaxed setting to gather, review the day’s hunt, and plan for the next outing. Meals are prepared daily and typically include a mix of local and traditional dishes, with breakfast before the hunt and dinner served after returning in the evening. 

 

The Wild Boar Hunting Season

Wild boar can be hunted year-round in Turkey, with no closed season. The best time to come is when the moon is between 30%-60% illumination. 

 

Recommended Firearms and Shooting Distances

Recommended calibers include .30-06, .300 Win Mag, and 9.3×62. Good quality optics (8x56 or thermal/night vision) are essential, especially for low-light conditions. Shot distances will vary depending on the method of hunting, but are typically moderate and taken from stable shooting positions such as high seats.

This outfitter does not offer rental rifles, so hunters must bring their own firearms. All necessary import paperwork will be handled by the outfitter. 

 

Packing List

A detailed packing list will be provided to the client after the hunt is booked.

 

Wild Boar Trophy Handling

After harvest, tusks are removed and prepared in camp. This includes boiling and cleaning to ensure proper preservation.

Hunters receive their prepared tusks before departure and transport them personally in their luggage. No dip & pack or international shipping services are required for this hunt.

 

Insurance

Travel and medical insurance are recommended for all international hunts.

 

Deposit Policy

A 50% deposit of the package price is required to secure the hunt. The remaining balance is due 10 days before the start of the hunt by bank wire, or in cash upon arrival.

 

Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable. Hunt dates may be rescheduled if notice is provided at least 90 days before the start date.

 

Exclusions: International airfare, visa costs, trophy preparation, gratuities, personal expenses, and any additional animals not included in the package.
