This premium Anatolian Chamois hunt offers hunters the opportunity to pursue one of the rarest and most challenging mountain antelope species in the world. Conducted in Turkey’s rugged Kaçkar Mountains of Northeastern Anatolia, this hunt is designed for physically fit mountain hunters seeking a demanding, technical, and highly rewarding alpine experience.

This is a true alpine mountain hunt conducted in exclusive concessions totaling approximately 150,000 hectares. The Anatolian Chamois inhabits steep, broken terrain at high elevation and require constant glassing, careful planning, and accurate shooting!

The Anatolian Chamois Hunting Area / Terrain

The hunt takes place in the Kaçkar Mountains region of Northeastern Anatolia, an area defined by sharp ridgelines, alpine basins, rocky cliffs, and high-altitude meadows. Elevations typically range from 1,500 to 2,500 meters, with steep ascents and descents common throughout the hunt.

Vehicles are used only to reach access points. The majority of the hunt is conducted on foot, often in vertical terrain where balance, endurance, and patience are critical. Hunters should be in excellent physical condition and comfortable moving through exposed mountain environments.

About the Anatolian Chamois

The Anatolian Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra asiatica) is a rare and heavier-bodied subspecies of chamois found only in select regions of Turkey. Known for its sharp horns, exceptional agility, and extreme wariness, this species is considered one of the most difficult mountain trophies in Eurasia.

Mature bucks average approximately 80 cm in shoulder height and can weigh up to 50 kg. Hunting chamois requires excellent glassing skills, long stalks, and disciplined shooting, often from awkward positions in steep terrain. A successful Anatolian Chamois hunt is a true mountain accomplishment.

The Anatolian Chamois Hunting Season

The Anatolian Chamois season runs from August 1 through March 31. The prime period for Anatolian Chamois hunting is October through December, with the peak rut occurring in November. During this time, mature bucks are more active and visible, improving glassing opportunities and trophy potential.

Recommended Firearms and Shooting Distances

Recommended calibers include .270 WSM, 7mm Remington Magnum, and .300 Winchester Magnum. Premium bonded or monolithic bullets are mandatory due to steep shooting angles and longer distances. This outfitter does not have rental rifles due to Turkey's firearm laws, so you must bring your own rifle. Paperwork will be handled by the outfitter.

Typical shooting distances range from 200 to 400 meters, with occasional longer shots depending on terrain and conditions.
