This Anatolian roe deer hunt offers the opportunity to pursue mature bucks in Turkey’s Black Sea region, an area known for its strong genetics and consistent trophy quality. Conducted across large, free-range concessions, this hunt is ideal for hunters looking for a classic European roe deer experience.

The Roe Deer Hunting Area/Terrain

The hunt takes place in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, including areas around Tokat and Kastamonu. This region provides ideal habitat for roe deer, with a mix of forest, agriculture, and open ground.

The terrain consists of rolling hills ranging from approximately 800 to 1,500 meters in elevation, covered in dense deciduous forest, agricultural fields, and open meadows. This combination creates excellent conditions for spotting and stalking roe deer.

The hunting concession spans over 800,000 hectares and is exclusively managed, ensuring a true free-range hunting experience.

About the Anatolian Roe Deer

The Anatolian roe deer is known for its compact body size and well-developed antlers. Mature bucks in this region are recognized for their strong mass and pronounced pearling, a key indicator of trophy quality.

This area consistently produces mature animals with well-formed antlers due to strong genetics and ideal habitat conditions. Hunters can expect to pursue fully mature bucks in a natural, free-range environment.

Roe Deer Hunting Experience

This hunt is conducted using spot-and-stalk methods, with hunting taking place during the early morning and late evening hours when roe deer are most active. Hunters will move through fields, forest edges, and open meadows while glassing for movement and identifying mature bucks.

During the rut, typically from mid-July to mid-August, calling methods may be used to attract dominant bucks into range. Midday is usually spent resting, as activity slows during the warmer part of the day.

Shots are typically taken at moderate distances, and careful shot placement is emphasized due to the smaller size of the animal.

It is common on this hunt to see wild boars, which can be harvested for an extra €1,500. Extra roe deer trophies can be harvested for an additional €2,000 per roe deer.

The Roe Deer Outfitter

This outfitter has been conducting professional hunts in Turkey for over 20 years and operates exclusively within the country. They manage access to prime roe deer habitat in the Black Sea region and have extensive experience hunting these areas.

Their team works year-round, monitoring animal movements and maintaining a strong knowledge of the terrain. This allows them to consistently locate mature bucks and provide a well-organized hunting experience.

All hunts are conducted 1×1, ensuring personalized guiding and focused attention throughout the hunt.

The Roe Deer Hunting Season

The roe deer season runs from May 1 through October 31. The best time to hunt is from mid-July through mid-August during the rut, when calling techniques are most effective and mature bucks are more active.

Recommended Firearms and Shooting Distances

Recommended calibers include .243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Win, and .308 Win. These flat-shooting calibers are well-suited for roe deer hunting.

Typical shooting distances range from 100 to 250 meters.

This outfitter does not offer rental rifles, so hunters must bring their own firearms. All import permits will be handled by the outfitter.
