This is your chance to hunt for brown bears in the best brown bear hunting area In Russia which is also one of the best brown bear hunting areas in the world. The brown bears found on the Kamchatka peninsula average 8.5 – 9+ft with two to three clients taking bears over 10’ each year.  In recent years, this outfitter has had a very high success rate for brown bears, but this hunting is subject to the weather and melting snows in the spring can affect success rates.

Why take a chance on an unsuccessful Alaskan Brown Bear hunt when you can be assured of better odds of taking a trophy brown bear while experiencing the Russian hunting trip of a lifetime?

Kamchatka Spring Bear Hunting Methods

This hunt is done on foot by using a snowmobile to travel great distances looking for the tracks of a large bear. Once a suitable-sized bear track is found, the tracks will be followed until the trophy potential of the bear can be assessed. Then the bear will be stalked either on foot, snowshoes, or skis until a suitable shot presents itself. Your guide will drive the snowmobile and you will ride in a sled behind him.  Warm clothing is essential for this hunt.

After May 10, the snow starts to melt and the hunt shifts to camps on the Okhotsk seacoast where hunting is more on foot and a boat is used for spotting the bears.

WEATHER IN KAMCHATKA

During the spring, daylight temperatures range from 32-40° F and from 22-32° F during the nighttime.

BROWN BEAR HUNTING ACCOMMODATIONS

The outfitter has many areas and camps that are used for the spring brown bear hunt in Russia. These accommodations vary from modest camps in the mountains to “luxury” wooden houses. All of the camps are clean, warm, and comfortable. Every house is equipped with stoves and every camp has a Russian sauna where you can take a bath after the hunt.

There is a professional cook in each camp so you can enjoy some fine Russian cuisine. There is a taxidermist to take first-class care of your trophy.

GETTING THERE

The most reliable way to get to Petropavlovsk is to fly via Moscow.  You will be met by the outfitter’s representative at the airport and assisted through customs. Then you will be taken to your hotel, or transferred to the domestic airport for your flight to Petropavlovsk.  This is a 9-hour non-stop flight.  In Petropavlovsk, you will be met at the airport and then transferred to the hunting camp.

HOTELS

As the flight to Petropavlovsk leaves from Sheremetyevo International Airport the outfitter recommends you stay at the Park Inn which is close to the airport. That way you avoid the lengthy delays that are always possible with the heavy traffic in Moscow. The Park Inn is just 30 minutes away from the center of the city if you use the rapid train. The train station is only 200 yards away from the hotel.
