The Southeastern Ibex
The Southeastern ibex is endemic to the hills and mountains of Spain and is usually the most affordable of the Spanish ibex species. It is a highly sought-after trophy and is a member of the Spanish ibex grand slam. The Southeastern ibex is smaller and lighter in color than the Becite and Gredos ibex. The horn size and shape vary considerably. Horns from the Sierra Nevada mountain range are typically the biggest, while horns from the Tejada-Almijara region tend to be the most distinctive – forming a circle and growing back towards the neck like that of a Mouflon. The Southeastern ibex horns are mostly round in cross-section.

The Southeastern Ibex Hunting Area
Southeastern Ibex are found in the southeastern mountains of Spain. This hunt takes place in some rugged terrain and being in good shape will be beneficial when hunting for a large trophy ibex.
The hunting areas cover a vast 99,000-acre area comprised of mountains, cliffs and deep creeks, but there is a good grid of dirt roads over most of the hunting grounds. A vehicle will give you convenient access to the prime hunting areas.
The hunting area is next to a National Park and the park requires that the outfitter only shoot 8-year or older ibex. Almost all of the Ibex in this area that meet this requirement are silver medal quality, so you can shoot a silver medal ibex for the price of a bronze medal ibex!
The Southeastern Ibex Hunting Methods
Hunting Southeastern ibex is a typical mountain hunt where the hunter covers ground by vehicle and on foot. The vehicle will provide access to the various areas where you will hunt. A typical hunting day will begin by driving up into the mountains and then getting out and glassing for ibex. The terrain is very mountainous, and this hunt will require some walking and lots of glassing. Once a trophy ibex is located, a plan will be made to get you to a shooting position for your ibex on foot. Due to the mountainous terrain, you can expect to take shots of up to 300 yds.
Hunting Southeastern ibex can be challenging, especially when looking for gold medal-level Ibex. To hunt for trophies, you must be prepared and ready to walk in the mountains for significant distances. However, the hunting area is very diverse, and the outfitter can accommodate hunters that are not in good physical condition if they have good shooting skills.
The Southeastern Ibex Hunting Hotel
During your hunt for a Southeastern ibex, you will stay in a small 4-star hotel set in a spectacular setting near the hunting area. The lodge has permanent power and all bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Internet and cell phone service are available at the hotel.
Guests are accommodated in luxury rooms. The lodge features a pool and has excellent food service. This is a great accommodation to take your spouse with you while on a Spanish ibex hunt.
Getting To the Ibex Hunting Area
Hunters will fly into Madrid, and will either be driven directly to the lodge (5-hour drive).
The deposit to book this hunt and reserve dates is 50% of the package and any observers. The balance of the hunting package is due upon arrival in cash or by prepaying through the booking agent at least 30 days before the hunt. Upgrades are due in cash at the end of the hunt. As an alternative to carrying large amounts of cash to pay for upgrades, you can pay an amount to the booking agent at least thirty days before the hunt and any unused portion will be promptly refunded.
